Living Buddhism
Officially founded by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda in 1964, SGI Australia is an affiliate of Soka Gakkai International and upholds the same values and principles. With millions of members in 192 countries, SGI organisations form a global network of individuals dedicated to the happiness of humanity.
Through its activities, SGI Australia is weaving a fabric of peace that reaches beyond divisions such as politics, culture, language, gender and age. This approach is rooted in the understanding that inner transformation in one person can contribute to positive change in families, communities and society as a whole.

Below are the three key areas through which SGI Australia brings Buddhist humanism to life. Each activity supports members in deepening understanding, strengthening inner resilience and contributing meaningfully to society.

Philosophy in Action
A Humanistic Movement Rooted in Daily Action
Together, these three pillars, discussion meetings, study, and peace, culture & education, reflect SGI Australia’s belief that philosophy must be lived, shared and expressed through action. Through continual learning, personal growth and social contribution, members work to build a peaceful and compassionate society, one person at a time.
